The 2008-2009 season is our third year as a club team here at UVM, and our first season as part of the ACHA. Our team was started in the fall of 2006 by a Suzanna Worzella and Bernice Denehan. Throughout the fall semester pick-up format practices began as a team formed and eventually after going through the recognition process with the University Student Government Association we became an official club for the spring of 2007. Starting in the fall of 2007 we began playing in a local league called Full Stride along with practices and a more developed roster and Zoe Kosmas took on the role of Co-President with Bernice. In April of 2008 we attended our first tournament through Canadian Hockey Enterprises in Montreal, Canada, which closed out our 2007-2008 season on an exciting note. The 2008-2009 season has so far been our most successful, with our roster almost doubling in size and our recent membership to the ACHA New England Women’s Collegiate Hockey League. In the 2008-2009 season we were ranked 2nd place with only seven goals against us all season, and only two losses against the number one team, Northeastern. Our ranking sent us to the championship where we met again with Northeastern and earned a win after a 10 round shootout. We have come so far in only 3 years and hope to continue to grow and improve in the future.
